 New TLDs
ICANN is going to open the Root for new top-level domains
As from 2010/2011 it will be possible for every organisation or company to apply for any new top-level domain. Currently, ICANN is finalising the application rules.
At the moment there are only 21 generic top-level domain names. This liberalization allows for more choice and innovation on the global internet.

If your company or community would like to have their own space on the web, now is the time to contact EPAG for assistance in the TLD application process. We will help you develop a strategy, guide you through the application process and use our extensive industry network to help you select a suitable registry operator for your top-level domain.

EPAG has been in the domain name industry since 2000 and has actively participated in the launches of many gTLDs since then. An extensive network of personal contacts in the industry and regular participation at ICANN and other industry meetings provides us with deep insight and up-to-date information on the global namespace evolution.
We are familiar with many different TLD models and have the specific expertise necessary for successfully establishing and marketing your new TLD.
There are many reasons why it makes sense to consider applying for a new top-level domain:
  • Create your own namespace for your community on the internet
    (e.g. .city, .region, .group)
  • Optimize use and visibility of digital brands (e.g. .brand, .product)
  • the ability to be completely innovative and create new ideas (e.g. .innovate)
  • Improve search engine ranking
  • Complete control of registrations in your name space
  • Develop new business models and revenue opportunities based on your top-level domain
